Our annual cross country is usually held every year in Term 2. Tamariki practice in the weeks leading up the the event, and by the time race comes around they are ready to go!
The races are run in Year groups, with boys and girls running separately. Our race day course is around the lake here in Pegasus - with the starting points at different places for each age group.
Everyone finishes on the school side of the bridge and there are always lots of parents there to support and cheer them on.
We had to move the date this year due to Covid-19, and we've changed things up a bit too! Our competitive runners have already been selected for zones, so we are going to have some fun this year :)
School cross country fun run - 3 July from 2:15 to 2:45pm at SCHOOL
The weather is not looking so great for Friday - it looks dry and cold, so spending 2 hours at the lake might be a big much for our younger tamariki. Instead, we will hold it at school and start at the later time of 2.15pm.
It will still be a dress up event! We are encouraging all children to dress up. Prizes will be awarded to the best dressed and various spot prizes will be given out in each learning community group.
After the prizes, children will remain with their syndicates. However, if parents wish to take their child/ren home they must check in with their homeroom teacher. If you have been asked by a parent to take their child home, this needs to be organised with the Homeroom teacher prior to the day.
